Assisi Pax Mundi preview with the Philadelphia Girls Choir

An emotional preview event for the Assisi Pax Mundi will take place on Monday 27th July with the Philadelphia Girls choir. The international young voices will start the Franciscan sacred music festival at 18.30 at the Basilica Superiore in Assisi. Entrance to the event is free.

Coming from Pennsylvania in the USA, the Philadelphia Girls Choir will perform in Assisi with a ‘Concerto’ ensemble on their second international tour. The girls will be conducted by Nathan Wadley and will perform a large repertoire.

To welcome the Philadelphia Girls Choir another girl’s ensemble from Bastia Umbra, the Coro Aurora, will perform conducted by Maestro Stefania Piccardi. Coro Aurora will perform again in October for the Assisi Pax Mundi second edition.

The Monday event is a preview for the second edition of Assisi Pax Mundi that will take place from the 15th to the 18th of October 2015 in Assisi. The Pax Mundi is an international festival to motivate dialogue through music. The festival offers concerts that will take place in the Franciscan venues of Assisi and its surroundings throughout the day. The climax of the festival will be a solemn Mass in the Basilica Superiore of Saint Francis with a performance of Cantico delle Creature (Canticle of the Sun) written by p. Domenico Stella. The performance will take place with participation of all choirs and instrumental ensembles.

The deadline for choirs to apply for Assisi Pax Mundi is Friday the 31st of July. Demand for this year’s event is high and we look forward to this rich cultural festival with an international taste.
