The event will finish with a Solemn Mess on Sunday the 22nd of October in the Saint Francis Upper Basilica and with the performance of the “Creatures song” by father Domenico Stella.
Franciscan music will be the protagonist of this international event that has been organized to stimulate the dialogue through the music.
Assisi Pax Mundi is starting on Thursday the 19th of October: four days dedicated to music; six concerts executed by 11 choral and instrumental groups. 350 singers and musicians are coming to Assisi to give life to this festival that has the “listening” and the “sharing” as first aim.
Assisi is an extraordinary city with its vocation to the promotion of peace and respect and it continues promoting a culture based on the dialogue where nobody is excluded, that proposes well common values, following Saint Francis and Saint Claire example. Assisi Pax Mundi festival has been organized by Assisi’s Franciscan families with the cooperation of the Saint Francis Papal Basilica Chapel Choir with the object to give the possibility to dialogue for the peace and for the Communion. Participating groups, in fact, have to present their repertoire and to meet each other to share their experiences and feelings in order to enrich themselves.
“Union of the torn mankind is God’s wish. For this reason, He sent his Son to give us his Loving Spirit through his death and resurrection. At the eve of his sacrifice, Jesus asks to the Father, to his disciples and to everybody who believe in him to be a unique thing, a living communion. How is it possible to be separated if, thanks to the Baptism, we have been plunged into Lord’s death that is the act by which God broke down the walls of the division? […] The dialogue is the natural instrument to confront different points of view that are obstacles to a real communion” (Ut Unum Sint, 6 – 36). Our faith in a new world call us and teach us to convey evangelic values into the present history in order to make it as similar as possible to God’s project. This is why the theme of this fourth edition is “Dialogue, bond of communion”.
