Yesterday’s preview of Assisi Pax Mundi made a strong impression on the audience with the astonishing voices of Philadelphia Girls Choir and Coro Aurora. The wondrous setting of the Basilica Superiore of Assisi highlighted the young voices throughout an exciting and culturally artistic night.
The preview took place on Monday 27th of July at 18.30 at Basilica Superiore in Assisi.
On their second international tour the Philadelphia Girls Choir, from Pennsylvania in the USA, performed in Assisi as a ‘Concerto’ ensemble. The girls were conducted by Nathan Wadley performing a large repertoire that included: To the Holy Spirit – Malcolm Dalglish; Esti Dal – Zoltan Kodaly; O Sapo – Stephen Hatfield e Shine on Me – Traditional Spiritual, arr. Rollo Dilworth.
To welcome the Philadelphia Girls Choir another girl’s ensemble from Bastia Umbra, the Coro Aurora, performed and was conducted by Maestro Stefania Piccardi. Coro Aurora will perform again in October for the Assisi Pax Mundi second edition.
The event was a preview for the second Assisi Pax Mundi festival that will take place from the 15th to the 18th of October 2015 in Assisi. The Pax Mundi is an international festival to promote dialogue through music, and will showcase various concerts in the Franciscan venues of Assisi and its surroundings. The climax of the festival will be a solemn Mass in the Basilica Superiore of Saint Francis with a performance of Cantico delle Creature (Canticle of the Sun) written by p. Domenico Stella. The performance will take place with the participation of all choirs and instrumental ensembles
