Assisi Pax Mundi gets into its heart. Sacred music invades Saint Francis places in the occasion of the international festival that has reached its fifth edition.
Tomorrow (Friday the 19th of October) will be a rich and intense day thanks to the coming of a Gospel Choir that will introduce an unedited song: the gospel version of the Creature Song that has been written precisely for Assisi Pax Mundi. It will be also an international day because of the exhibition of a choir coming from Lithuania.
The first concert of Friday the 19th of October is taking place at 5 p.m. at the San Rufino Cathedral: the “Amici della Musica”Polyphonic Choir, the Concerto Musicale Città di Aradeo (Aradeo) and Charlie’s Gospel Angels (Rome) are going to perform. The following appointment is at 9 p.m. at the Saint Francis Lower Basilica with the Šiaulių juliaus Janonio Gimnazija Choir coming from Lithuania and with the Valle Santa Choir (Rieti). All concerts and events of the festival are free and open to everyone.
Assisi Pax Mundi continues to confirm itself as a great event: seven free concerts executed by 15 choral groups coming from different cities of Italy and of the worl; more than 300 singers and musicians; five Franciscan locations in Assisi and its sorroundings; various music genres (between them gospel and folk music). The event seems to be very exciting and rich of can’t-miss appointments dedicated to the theme of this year: “If any man takes this bread for food he will have life for ever” (Jhon 6, 51).
During this edition music is inspired by the theme of the Eucharist. Assisi is an extraordinary city with its vocation to the promotion of peace and respect and it continues promoting a culture based on the dialogue where nobody is excluded, that proposes well common values, following Saint Francis and Saint Claire example. Assisi Pax Mundi festival, that has reached its fifth edition, is organized by Assisi’s Franciscan families with the cooperation of the Saint Francis Papal Basilica Chapel Choir with the object to give the possibility to dialogue for the peace and for the Communion. Participating groups, in fact, have to present their repertoire and to meet each other to share their experiences and feelings in order to enrich themselves. Father Giuseppe Magrino talks about the no-competitive aspect of Assisi Pax Mundi that is intended to offer an occasion of dialogue and meeting. He underlines the importance of the theme of the festival as well: “Eucharist is the source and the top moment of Christian life and it’s the heart of the Franciscan Spirituality”.
Rendez-vous go on also in the week end. Music is going to be played on Saturday the 20th of October at 11:30 a.m. at the San Rufino Cathedral with the Monte Colmenacco Choir, the Corale Interparrocchiale of Nesso (Nesso) and the Symphonia Choir (Pratovecchio). The next concert will be executed at 5:30 p.m. at the San Pietro Church by the “Francesco d’Assisi” Polyphonic Choir (Sassari). The Saint Francis Upper Basilica will be the location for the top moment of the festival: the final concert during which every attendant group will participate and perform. It will occur at 8:30 p.m.
Assisi Pax Mundi will come to an end on Sunday the 21st of October at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint Francis Upper Basilica with a solemn Mess and the performance of the Creature Song by Father Domenico Stella. All attendant group will participate.
